Ansty Cricket Club
More than just a club

Women’s and Girl’s Cricket

The Club started its Women’s Cricket Section in 2011 entering the Women’s Cricket Southern League.  Since then the team has progressed to the Premier Division where it currently plays,  We also run two midweek ladies T20 teams playing in the local Sussex League.

We pride ourselves on being a warm and welcoming club, small in numbers, but with a big heart. We are also looking to expand our senior playing squads.  We have a club ethos built around inclusion and involvement of all our female players from Juniors all the way through to the 1st XI.

Women’s First XI

Our Women’s 1st XI has played in the Women’s Cricket Southern League Premier Division since their promotion in  2015 ,  The First XI programme of 50-over and T20 matches offers the ideal platform for talented players looking to challenge themselves and progress to the highest level.  We have team members in the England Women’s Academy, playing Senior County and Junior County age group cricket.

Captain: Lucy Western is one of the founding team members at Ansty, and playing for Sussex Women.

Women’s Development Teams

We have two Women’s Development Teams compete in the midweek Sussex T20 Slam competitions.  These teams are a mixture of developing junior players, and those who want to play no pressure cricket, or just for fun!

Women’s Softball

In 2019 we launched a ladies softball team to provide some real fun social cricket that caters for women who have played cricket or have no previous experience of the game.

All Women’s teams continue to provide a platform for new and young players to develop their skills, techniques and knowledge of the game.

Girl’s Cricket

Our Girl’s Section was established in 2000 and was one of the first girls’ cricket sections in the area.  We offer an inclusive programme which allows everyone to  get fully involved. Everyone gets the chance to take an active part in matches and training is structured to ensure the girls can learn in a no pressure environment, whilst having fun and keeping fit.

We run Girl’s teams in the Sussex Under 11 (softball), Under 13 (hardball), and Under 15 (hardball) competitions.  Our Under 15’s also play in the Women’s Development Teams.
