Disability Cricket Champions Club

Ansty CC was designated by the ECB as a Disability Cricket Champion Club (DCCC) on the launch of the programme in 2021.  The DCCC programme supports cricket clubs in creating exciting and inclusive opportunities for disabled people to play cricket.  Since May 2021 Ansty CC has worked with the Foundation in hosting the summer outdoor programme Burgess Hill Super 1s.

Ansty Super 1s

The success of the 2021 summer programme has resulted in Ansty being recognised by the Lord’s Taverners.  as a Super 1s programme.  Consequently, the Ansty Super 1s are now fully assimilated into the Club’s winter programme with their indoor sessions taking place at Warden Park School alongside our seniors, juniors, and women’s programmes.  The offer does not stop at cricket with our Super 1s regularly taking part in Club events, such as skittles nights.

Ansty Super 1 sessions take place as follows:

  • Indoor (October to April) Saturday’s 11.00pm to 12.00pm
In the Sports Hall at Warden Park School.
  • Outdoor (May to August) Saturdays 10.00am t0 11.30am
    at Ansty Cricket Club

The Lord’s Taverners Super 1s programme gives young people with a disability aged 12-25 the chance to play regular, competitive cricket.  The Super 1s projects are community cricket hubs where young people can receive coaching, it gives participants the chance to compete against their peers and enjoy the benefits of playing sport.  They form part of programme that sets out to increase opportunities for regular participation; strengthen community and social cohesion; develop a network of volunteers, coaches and role models; and improve health, mental wellbeing and future prospects of all participants.
