Home matches at last
Ansty’s home season got off to a great start, at last, after two weeks of cancelled matches.
The 1st XI won their match with Cuckfield by 5 wickets Skipper Jake Wilson taking 3-22 and Charlie Lewis 3-34. Charlie then carried his bat for 64 as Ansty overhauled Cuckfield’s total of 145.
The 3rd XI also won their match with Preston Nomads by 40 runs. Rory Beard was out for 97 and Rob Targett 44 in their total of 225- 7. Nomads reply ended on 185 with Rory the top wicket taker with 4-34.
The 3rd XI’s trip to Ifield also saw a win, with a 3 wicket defeat of the home side. Theo Tippler (3-12), George Martin (3-48) and two wickets each from Olly Manns and Will Wright restricted Ifield to 127. George then top scored on 46 not out, with Will Wright (32) and John Lewis (27) batting well as Ansty reached 130-7.
